That evening, Neville Longbottom thought his dancing had been okay, the food had been good and the company had been better. He was still taken by surprise when Lavender Brown grabbed him and kissed him passionately.
Acting without consulting his brain, Neville's arms wrapped around her and held her tight, not that Lavender needed the encouragement, her tongue darted into his mouth and she pressed her magnificent chest seamlessly against Neville.
"You want to come in for… coffee?" She said huskily after the long kiss was done. Even Neville caught the meaning of the significant pause.
Neville hesitated, blushing heavily.
Lavender smiled at Neville, a mixture of amusement and confusion at the reaction her proposition had caused in him.
"Have I shocked you, Nev?"
"Yes… N-no… I mean," Neville stuttered. "I want to.. the coffee. I just didn't. I mean… It's our first date. I wasn't expecting…"
Lavender cocked her head to one side.
"You think this is our first date?"
"Isn't it?"
"What about Michael and Padma's wedding?"
"That was as friends?"
"How about Parvati and Asif's? Or when we hit that play with Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione?"
"…That wasn't as friends?"
"It was a Triple date, Nev."
Neville stared openly at Lavender, who apparently he'd been dating for much longer than I realised.
"If those were dates, how come this hasn't come up before?"
Lavender crossed her arms.
"I assumed you were taking things slow, I didn't want to rush you. It was sweet at first, you know the whole gentleman thing."
"You got tired of it though?"
"I'm only human." Lavender said. "So do I take it you weren't being a gentleman?"
Neville shook his head.
"Then you've got a lot of catching up to do."
Neville agreed wholeheartedly and pulled her into another deep kiss.
