So for my birthday, (thanks for all the messages and love yesterday btw :) ) My family went to see Age Of Ultron today as in my parents and sister and I. Review probably with mild spoilers under the cut.
Those poor poor people. AoU hits the ground running and doesn't let up. The Avengers have already been reassembled. And the first scene is very actiony and throws you in the deep end. Side characters from other films turn up and you're just expected to know them.I felt kinda of guilty dragging my parents to see it.
From there the film alternates between over the top super hero fights and quieter character moments. And it tries to do something with everyone. It doesn't entirely succeed but at least it tries.
I noticed early on that the superhero fights especially with Hulk were causing a lot of collateral damage. But then we hear Tony Stark has a foundation set up to help areas recover from then. And the final fight is once again largely about protecting innocent civilians. That I liked as opposed to say Man of Steel.
The new characters work quite well. Vision especially well in what few scenes he had.
It's kinda of a typical sequel. Sort of a reshash of the first one while trying to be bigger and flashy. It succeeds at that but doesn't quite holds well together as a film for me.
Still well worth a watch and I'm glad I saw it on the big screen.
